Bingham makes instant impact

Rakish Bingham marked his Mansfield debut with a goal in the Stags' 2-1 win at Exeter.

The former Wigan striker only signed for the club in the week, but was man-of-the match at St James' Park.

The deadlock was broken on 14 minutes when Fergus Bell's shot was well saved by Christy Pym, but Bingham was on hand to tap in the loose ball.

Bingham almost had a second when he found himself through on goal, but Pym, who played 20 minutes for England Under-20s in their 6-0 win over Romania on Friday night, made a superb one-handed save.

However, it was 2-0 on 40 minutes when Exeter only cleared a corner to Bell on the edge of the penalty box and he lashed a thunderous shot which flew into the bottom corner.

Exeter were awful in the first half but Matt Grimes, who also had a 20-minute run-out for England Under-20s on Friday, brought them back into the game with a stunning free kick from out wide on 67 minutes.

Exeter struggled to create much thereafter with Jimmy Keohane wasting a great chance to level in injury time.
