Boden forces draw for Newport after catalogue of errors

Scott Boden scored an 84th-minute equaliser as Newport boosted their bid to survive in Sky Bet League Two with a deserved 1-1 draw at Exeter.

Newport went in at half-time wondering how they were not in front as twice Jordan Tillson gave the ball away cheaply and twice the Welsh side hit the post.

The first time was when Conor Wilkinson latched onto Tillson's poor backpass, only to hit the inside of the post.

It was Wilkinson who hit the same spot later in the half after Tillson had again lost possession.

Exeter had chances of their own with Alex Nicholls missing three glorious opportunities, the best of those coming when he won the ball, ran through on goal, before being thwarted by Joe Day.

The Grecians went in front six minutes into the second half when a surging David Wheeler was brought down and, from Lee Holmes' free-kick, Tillson fired a superb volley into the far corner.

Boden fired straight at Bobby Olejnik for Newport on 83 minutes but, seconds later, he had the ball in the net when he glanced in Medy Elito's cross to rescue a deserved point for Warren Feeney's side.
