Kretzschmar seals Wanderers win

Wycombe gave their survival hopes a huge boost with a vital 1-0 win at Exeter courtesy of Max Kretzschmar's wonder goal.

Exeter, without a home win since October 5, probably had the better of the first half but, for their slight dominance, they didn't take any of the chances that came their way.

Sam Parkin headed a great opportunity over the crossbar and Liam Sercombe scuffed a shot wide, while Reece Styche was off target with a shot from distance for Wycombe.

Kretzschmar broke the deadlock in spectacular fashion after 23 minutes when he caught Christy Pym off his line and sent an audacious shot over the young goalkeeper's head from 30 yards and into the net.

Eliot Richards headed wide as Exeter ended the first half strongly, but they were desperate after the break and failed to force Matt Ingram into a serious save of note.

Kretzschmar should have put the game to bed when he went through on goal only to drag his shot wide of the far post, but the win was no more than the Chairboys deserved.
