Northampton are champions after draw at Exeter

Northampton picked up the point they needed to be crowned champions of Sky Bet League Two following a goalless draw at play-off chasing Exeter.

The Cobblers rode their luck at times, with the Grecians twice hitting the woodwork, and Oxford's home defeat to Luton and Accrington's failure to beat Morecambe meant Chis Wilder's side cannot be caught at the top of the table.

Jayden Stockley went close for Exeter in the first half with two headers, both of which were well-saved by Northampton goalkeeper Adam Smith, the first an acrobatic one-handed tip over that looked in all the way.

Exeter goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik was also on top form to save superbly from Zander Diamond and Ricky Holmes, but it was scoreless at the break with both teams well matched.

Stockley came close when he headed a Jamie McAllister cross against the post for Exeter, while John Marquis headed narrowly over the crossbar for the visitors.

Holmes drilled a shot straight at Olejnik with one of few second-half chances for Northampton and Jake Taylor headed against the bar for Exeter as the Cobblers held on for the point they needed to claim the title with four games to go.
