Yakubu sets goals target

Nigeria international Yakubu believes he can score 20 goals for Everton this season after finally recovering from his troublesome Achilles injury.

However, the 26-year-old may miss the start of the campaign even though he has returned to training after eight months on the sidelines.

He said: "I don't know when I'll be back playing but it's been good to be training with the team. My injury is getting better and better.

"I'm just being patient, working hard, setting goals and sticking to them.

"I'm happy that we have such good quality up front now and it'll be great to fight for my place.

"Every year the side is getting better. We're getting stronger as a unit and we're building. It's great.

"I just want to keep fit, get better and score goals and hopefully get to a Final and win a trophy.

"I've never scored below ten goals in a season but I want to score more. I want to score as many as I can, over 20 hopefully."
