Yakubu makes dream return

Yakubu Aiyegbeni took less than a minute to hit the goal trail upon his return to action on Tuesday. The Everton striker has been sidelined since rupturing his Achilles against Tottenham in November 2008 and is making tentative strides towards regaining full fitness. His first outing in nine months saw him handed a run-out for the Toffees' reserves against Burnley. He took just 31 seconds to make an impression in that game, latching onto a long ball from James McCarten before calmly stroking home. Yakubu was not done there, though, as six minutes later he laid on Everton's second goal of the night for Dan Golsing. The Toffees went on to win the game 3-0, with Yakubu's performance illuminating a positive performance from the Merseysiders. David Moyes was in attendance on Tuesday to see his returning frontman in action and he will have been delighted at the Nigerian's progress.
