Yak keen on Foxes switch

Yakubu has revealed his desire to turn his loan move from Everton to Leicester into a permanent switch in the summer. The striker, 28, was lured to the big-spending Championship outfit in January on a deal until the end of the season and has helped play his part in transforming the Foxes from relegation candidates into play-off hopefuls. Yakubu, who was on Monday joined in attack at the Walkers Stadium by Fulham forward Diomansy Kamara, has made 12 appearances for City to date and scored four goals. But that has been enough to convince him of a move from Goodison Park to the East Midlands. "I would love to stay, really," he told BBC Late Kick Off. "I hope we get promotion. I want to be here and I know the club deserve to be in the Premier League. "The ambition they have, they have been there before but now this is the time to be there and if I can be part of it, with my experience, it would be great for the club and the people of Leicester too." He added: "It was a big decision to leave Everton. When I spoke to the manager (Sven-Goran Eriksson) he said he really wanted me to come, and I said yes. For me, it was not just about staying in the Premier League and playing 10 minutes or 15 minutes and sitting every week not playing, I was not enjoying it which is not good. You get paid but I love to be on the pitch, working hard and playing football."
