Wyness dismisses AJ talk

Everton chief executive Keith Wyness has dismissed renewed speculation linking Toffees striker Andrew Johnson with a move away from the club at the end of this season.

The 26-year-old England international only moved to Goodison Park last summer, in an £8.6million switch from Crystal Palace, and has scored 11 goals in 27 Premiership appearances this term.

Johnson had been reported to be keen on a move back South, with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur rumoured to have an interest in the forward.

However, Wyness told the Daily Post: "I can only imagine this speculation comes from an erroneous story in one national newspaper a couple of weeks ago.

"There is absolutely nothing in it. AJ has made it quite clear that he is happy here and we are absolutely delighted with him."

Johnson started for England in their goalless draw in Israel at the weekend and has yet to open his international account after six appearances for the national team.
