Wolves v Everton - PREMIER LEAGUE LIVE

09 April 2011 13:41
PREMIER LEAGUE Wolves 0 Everton 3 FT[LNB]FULL TIME: Wolves 0 Everton 3[LNB]Credit to Everton, they weathered the early storm and stunned Wolves with three first half goals. The Toffees move to within a point of city rivals Liverpool, Wolves remain second bottom,. but they have done damage to their score difference. [LNB]Thanks for joining me... you can now follow all the rest of the Premier League action here. [LNB]90min: We'll have two minutes added...[LNB]85min: Not much proof is needed to show this game has petered out to a nothing: the highlights are now just the substitutions: Goalscorer Bilyaletdinov is off for Everton, Adam Forshaw is on. For Wolves, Adam Hammill replaces Steven Fletcher.[LNB]81min: I reckon Bilyaetdinov must have watched me playing over Wanstead Flats in my youth... handed a guilt-edge opportunity 6-yards out he mis-kicks, the ball ricochets off his standing ankle and he then sticks the loose ball over the stand. Just like me, at my best. [LNB]80min: Booooooooo to you Wolves fans who are heading for the exits already. Everyone knows if you want to leave early, you can't go until the 89th minute, when the opposing side win a free kick or throw in. [LNB]76min: Another change for Wolves: Adlene Guedioura is replaced by Nenad Milijas. [LNB]74min: Evertonsubstitution ...  followed by huge row between boss and player! Jermaine Beckford is replaced Apostolos Velios and there follows a huge shouting match between the manager and his goal scoring striker. Fancy we haven't heard the last of that one.[LNB] No way through: Osman makes a last ditch block to Wolves hopes of pulling a goal back[LNB]70min: Wolves remain upbeat and are trying to find that vital opening which could spark life into this game but they are meeting Everton's impenetrable back line.[LNB]64min: Everton's first change: Magaye Gueye, who has been very good on debut, is replaced by Victor Anichebe. [LNB]60min: Two fine chances for Wolves to get back in the game go begging as the hosts find Tim Howard in wonderful touch. [LNB]First up the American tips Karl Henry's venomous drive from the edge of the box over for corner . there follows an even better save - a point-blank stop from a header which is shoveled wide of the posts.  [LNB]55min: The siege Wolves laid on the Spurs goal which won them a point (and it should have been all three) is yet to materialise against Everton so far in this half. They continue to use the wide channels with Jarvis the main outlet, but even his delivery is letting him down so far in this half.  [LNB]51min: Handbaaaaaaall, the home fans scream in unison as Hibbert clearly handles on the deck. But there's no spot kick given as referee Dowd - who had a clear line of sight on it - deems Hibbert's actions as unintentional. Controversial. [LNB] Three and easy: Bilyaletdinov celebrates scoring his team's third goal [LNB]49min: Not much going on, little rhythm to the early stages of the second half. I forgot to bring you my favourite stat of the day so far after Neville scored his goal midway through the first 45 minutes: Phil Neville's goal was his first away from home in the Premier League since 28th April 2001; 3634 days ago.[LNB]SECOND HALF: We're back off and running, Wolves need an early goal, if they are to have any hope of turning over this deficit. The hosts make the only change at the break: Michael Kightly replaces Sylvan Ebanks-Blake who hobbled off with some sort of leg injury.[LNB]  [LNB]HALF TIME: Game over already. That's about it. More in a bit![LNB]45min: GOAL! Wolves 0 Everton 3 (Diniyar Bilyaletdinov)[LNB]What. A. Goal. We've seen some cracking goals scored on this ground by away teams - Raul Meireles and Jermain Defoe - but that has to be the best. The Russian surged into the wide open space of midfield and unleashed a stunning drive from fully 25 yards which screamed  into the top-left hand corner of the net. Stunning. [LNB]40min: And it should be 3-0! Gueye breaks free, one-on-one with the keeper who blocks with his legs. [LNB]39min: GOAL! Wolves 0 Everton 2 (Phil Neville)[LNB]Incredible, after barely having a touch for the first 25 minutes, Everton find themselves two up! Hennessey makes a cracking save after a defensive header accidentally looped goalwards. But the ball was rolled to Neville on the edge of the box who thumped through the crowd past Hennessey who had no chance. [LNB] Sticky situation: The Toffees have found themselves in front despite being totally outplayed for most of the first half[LNB]36min: So close for Wolves. Jarvis' teasing cross is met by Fletcher, Howard saves with his feet and a League Two-esque scramble ensues. Bodies flying in all directions and Everton eventually scramble free. [LNB]31min: It should be 2-0! Osman skips away from Stearman far too easily and finds Beckford in acres in the middle, his header bounces into the ground but Hennessey's fingertips take the ball round the upright. [LNB]27min: Definitely a head-scratcher for Mick McCarthy who has watched his side boss all aspects of this game. Still, one thing they don't lack is perseverance, and Everton always concede goals at the moment. Makes for a fascinating match. Wolves win a corner which is swung in but hoofed clear... another decent position goes begging. [LNB]23min: Ooooh! Wolves very nearly peg Everton straight back, but Guedioura's curling effort zips just wide of Howard's left-hand upright. [LNB]21min: GOAL! Wolves 0 Everton 1 (Jermaine Beckford)[LNB]There are goals against the run of play and there's, well, this! Osman scampers away down the right, swings in an inviting ball which Beckford meet and clips past Hennessey who found himself in No Man's Land.  [LNB] Beck in the goals: Everton celebrate taking the lead, very much against the run of play[LNB]18min: Penalty? No... Ebanks-Blake tussles with Neville in the box , the pair collapse in a heap on the floor but the ref waves them back up. [LNB]17min: Success! Everton launch am long throw... and it makes it into the Wolves penalty area! The joy is short lived, mind as Hennessey comes to collect.[LNB]15min: When I say Everton have barely had a touch, I mean they have been that slow out of the traps, they haven't taken the ball into the Wolves box, yet. [LNB]13min: The noise levels surge through the roof as Ebanks-Blake booms upfield. Acres of space open up in front of the striker, but a brace of defenders track back and Guediora arrives in support but wastes the ball with an elaborate flick to try and find O'Hara. [LNB]9min: Fletcher refuses to give up a long ball which had zipped over the heads in the box. he rescues the ball down by the corner flag and eventually wins a corner. it amounts to nowt, but another sign that the Toffees are very much under the pump in every department during these early exchanges. [LNB] heads I win: Distin beats Fletcher to the ball[LNB]6min: It's all Wolves at the moment, Everton can't get a foot on the ball. The hosts have just come very close to opening the scoring as Steven Fletcher's header angled goalwards, Jagielka leaps to nod the ball away from (near) the line. [LNB]2min: Matt Jarvis of Wolves (and England, no less), dazzles us with a few step overs and wins a corner. The ball is delivered to Guedioura whose shot from the edge of the box is blocked by Gueye. [LNB]KICK OFF: We're off and running....[LNB]12.43: Players, officials and all the accoutrement needed for a game of footer make their way on to the pitch. We'll have some action for you presently. Super! [LNB]12.40: I don't want to pour cold water on this scorching day, but the last three meeting between these two have ended in draws, but, I'm sure we're on for goals today - the Toffees have kept just one clean sheet in the last 14 games. [LNB]12.38: Time for some team news, then: Wolves midfielder Adlene Guedioura makes his first appearance in seven months for the clash with Everton.[LNB]The Algerian international suffered a broken leg against Aston Villa in September but has come through two reserve games unscathed in the past week. Guedioura replaces Nenad Milijas while Wolves boss Mick McCarthy also brings in record signing Steven Fletcher at the expense of Adam Hammill.[LNB]Everton manager David Moyes has handed a first Premier League start to French midfielder Magaye Gueye.  The 20-year-old replaced Seamus Coleman, who sustained an ankle problem during last weekend's home draw with Villa.[LNB]12.33: So, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all stumbled on this ground so far this season, and Tottenham were very lucky to leave with a point. [LNB]So, can anyone tell me why Wolves continue to lurk around the bottom three? [LNB]Mick McCarthy's men have been the epitome of inconsistency. For every battling home win, there's the complete capitulation away from home soon after a la Newcastle. A sure-fire recipe for disaster.
