Everton defender Phil Jagielka hopes that Saturday's 2-1 win at Newcastle improves the squad's confidence in the wake of their FA Cup exit to Reading.Just four days on from their shock 1-0 win defeat to Reading at Goodison Park, Jagielka's winner fired the Blues up to 10th place in the Premier League. [LNB]"It's something to build on," he told BBC Sport. "We need to keep picking up points and see where it takes us. [LNB]"If you take the Reading result out, that's two league wins on the trot." [LNB]After the disappointment of that FA Cup defeat by Reading, Jagielka believes that Saturday's victory on Tyneside proved a few doubters wrong - and put a smile on manager David Moyes' face.[LNB] [LNB][LNB] "He is a lot happier," said Jagielka. "He's got faith in us as players and he'll be proud that the XI and the subs did what he wanted them to. [LNB]"He's smiling like a Cheshire Cat. [LNB]"We don't do anything on purpose. It's not like no-one tried on Tuesday. It was just one of those days." [LNB]After successive league wins over Sunderland and Newcastle, Everton now have the chance to leapfrog both in the table. [LNB]Victory against Birmingham City at Goodison on Wednesday night would lift Moyes' men to eighth in the Premier League - within three points of sixth-placed Liverpool.
