As you may know, the race to finish 1st is well and truly over. The margin between United and City is just too great for any last gasp heroics. So the focus now turns towards the battle for a place in the Champions League.
Manchester City have already clinched 2nd, there’s no doubt in my mind about that, but the question is: Out of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton – who will miss out?
This weeks games are pivotal for each team. Only 4 points separates 3rd place Arsenal and 6th place Everton. So each team will be desperate to grab their 3 points to allow some breathing space.
Arsenal host Everton tonight at The Emirates, and both managers are calling on their top players to show their quality. Arsenal have hit form at the best possible time, and Captain Thomas Vermaelen is calling on his team to continue their momentum.
Everton are also coming in to the game on the back of a comfortable 2-0 win against struggling QPR last Saturday afternoon. David Moyes is also rallying his troops to produce against the Gunners. It’s been a long time coming, but it seems Victor Anichebe has finally found some consistency to his play.
Moyes said: "He has been terrific. The boy has an awful lot going for him and I've said many times he's just needed to have a bit more self-confidence. We just want him to keep playing the way he is doing; he is helping us at the moment and gives us an alternative.”
The weekend games see Spurs take on high-flying City and Liverpool take on Chelsea. Again, must win games for all sides. Spurs will hopefully see Bale return for the clash, because without him, the likes of Aguero and Yaya Toure, who are starting to show glimpse of last seasons form, will pick them apart. As for the game at Anfield, Chelsea will be desperate to get back to winning ways after being outplayed by City in the FA Cup last week.
