We're all devastated for Beckham, says LA Galaxy captain Donovan

Los Angeles Galaxy captain Landon Donovan has sent a message of sympathy to David Beckham.

Beckham is out of the World Cup after having surgery to repair his torn achilles tendon in Finland on Monday.

The devastating blow to the England midfielder happened on Sunday with AC Milan where he is on loan from the California club.

Donovan, who just completed a 10-week loan spell at Everton, said: 'First and foremost, we are devastated for David.

'Those of us in the locker room know how much it meant to him togive himself a chance to play in the World Cup. Now that is gone.'
