We can push on without foreign aid, says defeated Everton boss Moyes

David Moyes was in full flow when a nearby mobile phone sprang into life with a familiar refrain. 'Mission Impossible,' he chortled. 'Aye, that'd be right. Very appropriate.' With another Arab billionaire throwing his stake money on the table by buying out Portsmouth, Moyes could have been forgiven for feeling the ringtone's intervention was sending a message to him, rather than the phone's owner. Everywhere he looks, rivals are stockpiling funds for a tilt at breaking into the Barclays Premier League's top four, while he heads for a meeting with his Everton chairman Bill Kenwright this week knowing he'll be lucky to have £15million for strengthening his FA Cup final squad. But, as Moyes reflected on his side's 2-1 Wembley defeat by Chelsea, he underlined his commitment to Everton and made it clear he was looking no further than continuing an unlikely quest to keep them in the hunt for honours without any foreign aid. He said: ' It seems to be the fashion to have someone in control from whatever corner of the globe, but I would like to see us getting back to the basics of having owners who love their club and team.
