Villa concerns over Gabby fitness

Aston Villa are sweating on the fitness of Gabriel Agbonlahor after he suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's 3-3 draw with Everton. Agbonlahor, who has netted 13 times this season, limped out of the action during the second half and will undergo a scan in the next 24 hours to determine the extent of the problem. Villa manager Martin O'Neill will be keeping his fingers crossed Agbonlahor's spell out of action is minimal as he is already without the injured Emile Heskey. It could leave him with John Carew as his only experienced forward and against the Toffees he was forced to bring on the unproven Nathan Delfouneso to replace Agbonlahor. Agbonlahor confirmed: "There is something wrong with my hamstring. I don't know what it is. We'll have to wait and see the results of a scan. "I got the ball and pulled up and came off as a precaution. I don't know how long I'll be out for. "It felt pretty sore during the game but I came off when I did because I didn't want to make it worse." O'Neill revealed Agbonlahor had defied a virus to play before his hamstring blow. He said: "Gabby played against Everton after not training for the two days before the game. He had not been feeling great. "But we always knew he wanted to come out and play and this is one of the big things about him and Ashley Young and a number of the other lads - they want to play. "When Gabby came off, his hamstring was sore. Everything was wrong with him in terms of not being physically fit for the game but he still did great. That is the kind of character he is."
