Victor Anichebe's Everton future in doubt after row with David Moyes

The Nigerian international was escorted from the club's Bellfield base by two physios after refusing to train and arguing with both assistant manager Steve Round and Moyes. The incident leaves his future at Everton, where he was a trainee, uncertain.[LNB]Anichebe had been due to go on loan to Hull on transfer deadline day but that move fell through. Despite injuries to Yakubu, James Vaughan and Louis Saha, Moyes has often preferred to use midfielder Tim Cahill to lead the line, leaving Anichebe on the bench.[LNB]The forward is thought to have grown increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities and had been in favour of a switch to the KC Stadium. No doubt that frustration was compounded by the arrival of Brazilian striker Jo on loan from Manchester City.[LNB]Jo is not available for tonight's game, and with the club's striker shortage showing no signs of abating, Anichebe remains Moyes's only available forward for the FA Cup fourth round replay with Liverpool.[LNB]But the Scot is thought to be furious at having his authority undermined and is likely to omit Anichebe from the squad altogether, indicating an advanced role for Cahill.[LNB]Moyes will be boosted, though, by the presence of both Marouane Fellaini and Mikel Arteta, who missed the first leg through suspension and injury. He is hopeful of naming an unchanged side from the one which narrowly lost at Old Trafford on Saturday.[LNB]His counterpart, Rafa Benitez, said yesterday he intends to play as strong a side as possible, although Sami Hyypia, Andrea Dossena and Lucas could all be drafted in as he looks to give the likes of Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso a rest.[LNB]The rich Merseyside tradition of managers exchanging verbal blows before a derby is clearly alive and well. Moyes intimated yesterday that he felt Liverpool often had a 12th man on the pitch, usually clad in black, while Benitez suggested Everton might actually have to attack this time around, in a bid to satisfy their fans.
