Sporting Lisbon and Portugal midfielder Miguel Veloso has closed the door on a move to England by signing a new five-year contract with his current club.
The 22-year-old has attracted interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League and seemed set to join Everton last summer.
However, Veloso now says he is content to have pledged his future to Sporting and will focus his energies on helping them challenge for honours.
Veloso confirmed: "I have signed a contract until 2013 and I would like to fulfil it until the end.
"Any player or human being would wish to evolve and to make the jump, anyone who says otherwise is lying.
"I know that I am at a great club and that I must be thankful to Sporting. It's true that I had a chance to escape to England in the summer, but we could not close a deal.
"From now I will always give my everything to Sporting."
