Vaughan suffers fresh blow
08 Mar 2008 - 13:41:04
Everton striker James Vaughan is unlikely to play again this season after suffering a fresh injury problem.
The injury-plagued teenager has been sent to America to see renowned knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman after breaking down in training.
Vaughan has suffered a succession of injuries since breaking into the first team back in 2005 and becoming the youngest ever goalscorer in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old missed the first three months of the season with a dislocated shoulder, but has previously been dogged by knee problems.
"The knee just locked a couple of times in training and it is terrible luck for the boy," manager David Moyes told the club's official website.
"We don't know yet whether it is the same problem as before but it is the same knee.
"We decided he should have the operation now rather than wait until the end of the season and he has to be a doubt for the rest of the campaign."
