Vaughan on comeback trail
09 Apr 2009 - 12:45:37
Everton striker James Vaughan has stepped up his comeback from injury with an appearance for the club's reserves.
Vaughan, 20, has been out of action since damaging knee ligaments in November but played 70 minutes of a second string game on Wednesday evening.
Vaughan has started just one Premier League game for the Toffees this season after a series of injury problems.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Tim Howard is confident of being fit for Sunday's clash Aston Villa despite suffering a slight thigh strain in last weekend's 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
"It's okay, it was a sore strain that I picked up in the game," he told the club's official website.
"I suspect it will be fine for the game coming up.
"I haven't been training, I've just been off it for a couple of days.
"We had a day or two off so everyone is getting back up to speed."
