Vaughan suffers further setback

James Vaughan's loan spell at Derby could be over after the Everton striker underwent another knee operation. The 21-year-old, who has experienced knee problems in the past, returned to Goodison Park this week to have an injury assessed after missing the Rams' last two Coca-Cola Championship matches. Scans on Merseyside revealed a slight tear in his knee cartilage. Everton have stressed it is a new injury and not a recurrence of any past problem. It it too soon to determine whether Vaughan will be able to add to his two appearances for Derby before his loan spell expires in January.
