Transfer Gossip - January 21st

According to speculation in today's press Everton boss David Moyes is set to renew attempts to bring Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos to Goodison Park.

The Swiss international was linked with a move to the Toffees during the summer but the move never materialised. It is believed Moyes will now launch a loan bid with a view to signing Senderos on a permanent basis in the summer.

And it appears Everton are not the only ones showing persistence in the pursuit of their transfer targets.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis continues to vie for the signature of England goalkeeper David James and, like Moyes, is initially looking to bring in the Pompey stopper on a short-term basis.

Elsewhere, Ruud Van Nistelrooy is once more attracting attention from an array of Premier League clubs, with West Ham believed to be the latest side to express a desire to bring the Dutchman back to England.

The prolific striker has struggled for first-team opportunities at Real Madrid so far this season and has already been linked with Tottenham, Liverpool and Stoke City.

The Hammers have also shown an active interest in Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy as boss Gianfranco Zola looks to bolster his strikeforce and utilise the funds promised him by the clubs new owners.

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed his aspiration to sign Argentinean midfielder Fernando Gago from Real Madrid, as well as former Arsenal man Mathieu Flamini from AC Milan. The Citizens have also been linked with renewed attempts to sign Rubin Kazan full-back Cristian Ansaldi and Racing Santander prodigy Sergio Canales.

Likewise, Liverpool are set to reignite their interest in Kenwyne Jones, while Ryan Babel is again linked with a move to Birmingham City, who are rumoured to be considering making an improved offer for the out-of-favour winger.

It certainly appears that if at first Premier League bosses don't succeed, they try, try and try again.
