Everton have rejected a second approach for <player id="56212">James McFadden</player, with Rangers the latest team to show an interest in the striker.
Last week the Toffees snubbed a £2million offer from Premier League rivals Birmingham City for the Scotland international.
Manager David Moyes insisted the 24-year-old was an integral part of his first-team plans, but that has not stopped the Glasgow club from revealing their interest in the former Motherwell forward.
"McFadden is a player we'd be interested in," admitted Gers boss Walter Smith. "No club wants to sell its best players in the January window and we won't be signing anyone unless it's someone who can improve the team."
However, Everton chief executive Keith Wyness said: "We've heard from several clubs regarding James McFadden's availability.
"We're monitoring the situation but our position remains the same and that is that James remains a valuable member of our first-team squad."
Meanwhile, Everton have been given permission to play Manuel Fernandes in the UEFA Cup despite the new loan signing having already played in the Champions League for parent club Valencia this season.
