Middlesbrough have confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Everton for the transfer of striker Yakubu Ayegbeni to Goodison Park. The 24-year-old Nigerian frontman missed Boro's 2-1 win at Fulham last weekend, heightening speculation that he was about to leave the club. Now the Teessiders have allowed Yakubu to speak to Everton after the two clubs settled on a fee, believed to be in the region of £11million. Yakubu joined Boro just over two years ago from Portsmouth and has gone on to score 25 goals in 73 Premier League appearances for the Riverside outfit. Meanwhile, the Toffees are sweating on the fitness of striker Andrew Johnson for the weekend, after a knee problem ruled him out of England's friendly against Germany. Head Physio, Mick Rathbone, told the club's official website: "Andrew had a bit of fluid on his knee after training with England on Monday. "He was assessed by the England medical staff on Tuesday morning and they decided that he should come back to Everton for treatment. "His knee is being assessed and it's too soon to start speculating about the weekend."
