Toffees reject Lescott request

Everton have turned down an official transfer request from Manchester City transfer target Joleon Lescott.

Lescott has been the subject of two unsuccessful bids from the big-spending Eastlands club so far this summer and Toffees boss David Moyes has reiterated his claim that the England defender is not for sale.

Reports had claimed that Everton would consider selling the 26-year-old former Wolves defender to City should he formally ask to leave Goodison Park.

"I have always said that we are not selling any players and that hasn't changed," said Moyes.

Lescott joined the Toffees in the summer of 2006 from Wolverhampton Wanderers and has since racked up 142 appearances for Everton, scoring 17 goals.

He has also forced his way into the England national team set-up, winning seven caps to date, having made his debut against Estonia in October 2007.
