Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed he is poised to sit down with Joleon Lescott to a discuss a new contract with the highly-rated defender.
The 25-year-old's stock his risen since joining the Toffees in summer 2006 from Championship side Wolves.
Lescott earned a first full England cap in October and has been mentioned as a possible transfer target for the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.
The versatile defender still has two years remaining on his existing deal, but Toffees boss Moyes is keen to sit down with him and thrash out a new long-term deal.
"Joleon has two-and-a-half years to go on his contract so we're not desperate about his situation," said Moyes.
"We'll be speaking again to him over the next month, but it won't be a problem."
Lescott has made 81 appearances during 18 months at Goodison Park.
