Toffees fail with Defour offer

Standard Liege star Steven Defour claims his club has rejected a bid for him from Everton.

The Belgium international midfielder has been linked with a move to the Toffees, but Defour claims Liege have blocked a potential transfer to Goodison Park.

Last summer, Everton paid a club record £15million fee to Liege to sign Defour's former team-mate Marouane Fellaini.

However, the 21-year-old midfielder claims he is in no immediate rush to leave Belgium.

"For now I wait quietly. I feel good at Standard, especially now we are in the Champions League," he said.

"But I would be ready to move abroad, but the transfer will come when all parties are happy.

"How high was the bid? I do not know, you would need to ask (Liege vice-president) Luciano D'Onofrio."
