Everton are one of several teams being linked with a summer move for Palermo's highly-rated central defender Andrea Caracciolo.
The 25-year-old former Brescia star is being chased by a host of clubs with Juventus, AS Roma, Tottenham and Rangers also keen to snap him up.
His representative, Andrea D'Amico, confirmed: "The departure of Caracciolo from Palermo is practically unavoidable, not just from the player's perspective but also the owners of the club.
"Andrea is not only rated in Italy but in England too, with Spurs and Everton interested, along with Rangers in Scotland, who also need a centre-back.
"(Roma boss Luciano Spalletti) is also a admirer but one cannot presume that the will of a coach can be followed through the actual nitty-gritty of negotiations as anything can happen then.
"But one thing is for sure about the English clubs is that they have greater economic power when bidding for and offering contracts to players, although you have to account for the higher cost of living in the UK."
