Toffees agree Jo loan deal
02 Feb 2009 - 14:48:20
Everton have ended their lengthy search for a new striker by completing the signing of Manchester City's Jo on loan.
The Brazil international has joined the Toffees on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old forward was brought to the City of Manchester Stadium last summer from CSKA Moscow in an £18million deal.
However, he has been allowed to move on after failing to impress City boss Mark Hughes.
Jo has scored three times in 18 appearances in all competitions, but has started only six Premier League games for the Citizens.
But despite his patchy record in England, Toffees boss David Moyes has made the move after being denied the services of any first-team strikers in recent weeks.
Ayegbeni Yakubu and James Vaughan have already been ruled out for remainder of the campaign with knee ligament injuries, Louis Saha is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem, while Victor Anichebe has only just returned to full fitness.
Midfielder Tim Cahill has scored two goals while operating as a makeshift striker in Everton's last four games.
