Toffees end Lawrie interest

Everton have decided against offering terms to Port Vale youngster James Lawrie after a recent trial. The 18-year-old has spent the last week training with the Toffees, hoping to impress manager David Moyes. However, the Premier League outfit have opted against taking their interest any further. Lawrie, who has already been capped by the senior Northern Ireland side, will now return to Vale in preparation for the new League Two campaign. He made eight starts and 10 substitute appearances for the Valiants last season, scoring two goals, and will be hoping to become a regular part of Micky Adams' plans in 2009/10.
