Everton have ended their interest in signing Port Vale`s highly-rated young striker James Lawrie. The Premier League club took the 18-year-old on trial last week but, after watching him in training, manager David Moyes has opted not to take his interest any further. Lawrie, who has already been capped at senior level by Northern Ireland, is now on international duty before returning to Vale ahead of the start of the new League Two season on August 8. He made eight league starts and 10 substitute appearances for the Valiants last term, scoring two goals, and will be looking to establish himself as a first-team regular under new boss Micky Adams.
