Tim Cahill looking to turn Manchester City's Champions League dream into a nightmare

ShareThe irony will not be lost on Manchester City supporters. After spending two years dreaming of the Champions League, the game that could secure their entry into football's promised land sees them face up to the man from their nightmares.[LNB]Tim Cahill has a habit of wreaking havoc every time Everton face City and though Roberto Mancini is well aware that three points at Goodison Park will guarantee a top four finish, he will need no reminding of the threat that the Australian carries.[LNB]Cahill, for the record, has scored the winner against City four times and nothing would give him greater satisfaction than to extend that sequence on Saturday afternoon in an attempt to enliven Everton's season of great frustration.[LNB] Thorn in the side: Tim Cahill scores against Man City last season[LNB]'I fancy myself every game I play in but it is nice that I always seem to get a goal against City and we always seem to get good results against them,' said Cahill, referring to the fact Everton have won six of the last seven Barclays Premier League fixtures between the sides.[LNB]'City fans are usually quite good to me away from games and I don't get much stick. But on the pitch it's quite heated because we know how much it means to both of us. [LNB]It's not Liverpool versus Everton but it's growing because of the results and the way they have gone.'[LNB] High hopes: Cahill scores another against City[LNB]This was the season when Everton anticipated challenging City and there is little doubt the enmity between the clubs has grown recently, fuelled by Joleon Lescott's ?23million move from Goodison to Eastlands in August 2009. There is no animosity, however, between old colleagues.[LNB]'If Joleon wins something this season that might justify (him leaving),' said Cahill. 'He gave everything for us and that's the main thing. But different players have different ideas of what they want. Every player has a dream of playing in the biggest games in the world.'[LNB] Animosity: Joleon Lescott's transfer sparked a rivalry between the two clubs[LNB]So what has kept the fiercely ambitious Cahill at Goodison since 2004 when he has not been short of potential suitors? 'In all fairness, it's the chairman, the manager and the fans,' he explained. 'It's always easier to leave and jump ship but a lot harder to stay. I've been here seven years and it's been nothing but unbelievable.[LNB]'The players here understand there isn't a gold mine of funds but we don't rely on it. Spending (big) money doesn't always work out and the dream (to succeed) here remains intact. The only way I'd leave is if something was up with my family or kids.'[LNB] EVERTON v Manchester City: Heitinga set to feature after recovering from injuryAll the latest Barclays Premier League team news for May 7-9All the latest Man City news features and opinionAll the latest Everton news, features and opinion[LNB]  Explore more:People: Tim Cahill, Joleon Lescott, Roberto Mancini Places: Liverpool
