Thomas Hitzlsperger will not hesitate to unleash his hammer-like left foot for Everton FC
Thomas Hitzlsperger has promised he will not hesitate if he gets the chance to unleash his hammer-like left-footed shot for Everton.
The former Germany international made his Blues debut in Saturday's 2-1 win over Sunderland as a late substitute, after two months training with the club. Hitzlsperger, 30, is on a short-term contract until January, but even that brief Goodison cameo against Martin O'Neill's men yielded the opportunity of a shot on goal. His effort didn't find the target but the man nicknamed 'Der Hammer' during spells at West Ham and Aston Villa is keen to repay the faith shown in him by his new team-mates by chipping in with some long-range goals. He said:
"Everybody was saying before the game, if I get a chance then have a shot at goal. One did fall for me but unfortunately I couldn't get it on target.
"I should have done better but there are more games to come and i will think about it carefully.
"The whole time I've been here, it is such a good place to be and I want to play more and contribute more to the club's success.
"I was delighted to get on the pitch as I've been waiting to get a chance for a long time. I've been training with the lads for two months now and hopefully I will get more opportunities in the next few weeks."
