Sylvain Distin signs one-year Everton FC contract extension
Sylvain Distin has committed himself to Everton FC for another 12 months after putting pen to paper on a new deal.
The French centre-half has signed a contract extension which will keep him at Goodison Park until the end of next season. Distin, who has clocked up over 130 appearances for the Blues, has been in negotiations with the club for some time and this week finalised the new deal. The 35-year-old has become an integral part of manager David Moyes' side since signing from Portsmouth for around £5m in 2009. And with his current deal set to expire in the summer, Everton had been keen to secure the former Manchester City man for another year. Distin has appeared in all but three of the side's Premier League games this season and with his contract situation unresolved, the 6'4" defender was said to be attracting interest from Queens Park Rangers. But Moyes, who made no secret of his desire to tie Distin up on a new deal, has today secured his man for another 12 months. Distin follows Phil Jagielka and Seamus Coleman penning fresh contracts in recent weeks, with the pair committing themselves to the club until 2017 and 2018 respectively.
