SYLVAIN DISTIN will be unveiled as an Everton player today - as Leighton Baines saluted a job well done. David Moyes secured his second buy of the week when the French defender put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal last night, as his new team-mates booked their place in the Europa League group stages with 1-1 draw at SK Sigma Olomouc. He passed a medical at Finch Farm after Everton had agreed a £5m deal with Portsmouth for Distin, who could make an instant debut against Wigan at Goodison Park on Sunday. 'Will he go straight into the team on Sunday? Well, we need another centre-half, that's for sure,' said Moyes, who revealed that Everton are 'very close' to a couple more new arrivals. Moyes wants to bring in another central defender, while he would also want to welcome in a new right-back and players such as David Wheater from Middlesbrough and Atletico Madrid's Holland international Johnny Heitinga are among his targets. Heitinga - who started his career at Ajax and played in Amsterdam at the same time as last night's scorer Steven Pienaar - would fit the bill, as he can play as both a central defender and right-back, while he has also operated as a central midfielder.
