Veteran defender Alan Stubbs has agreed a new one-year contract with Everton.

Stubbs, 35, has made 25 appearances for the Toffees this season and admitted the decision to extend his stay at Goodison Park was an easy one to make.

"It was pretty straightforward to be honest," he told Everton TV.

"It's not as if I'm 21 and it's going to get complicated. I'm happy to be signing and proud I'm still able to play at the top of the Premiership at 35. It's a nice moment for me.

"I dreamed of playing for Everton when I was a five-year old lad and now, hopefully, this is the club where I'll end my career."

Stubbs is currently in his second spell at Goodison Park having returned to Merseyside in January 2006 following an unhappy five-month stay at Sunderland.
