Stubbs keen to save Moyes money

Reserve-team manager Alan Stubbs hopes he can save the club money by nuturing more first-team stars. Stubbs believes his job is to help strengthen David Moyes' side from within rather than him having to go looking for big-money signings. As a consequence, Stubbs said results were secondary at reserve-team level. "I'd rather get one or two players through to the first team a season than win the league," he told the Liverpool Echo. "My aim is not to win the league, my aim is to save the manager from spending money, and the more I can do that the better. "We're here trying to improve and get the better players through into the first team. It's about me trying to groom players."
