Stability the key for Distin

Sylvain Distin has admitted that his switch to Everton was driven by a desire to play for a stable club. The French centre-half completed a move to Goodison Park from troubled Portsmouth during the summer transfer window. He admits that the mass exodus of top talent from Fratton Park in recent times left him feeling unsettled on the south coast and keen to secure a switch elsewhere. Once Everton came calling Distin had no hesitation in accepting a switch to Merseyside, as he feels the Toffees have laid solid foundations on which to build. "When you have players who have been together for a long time, that is a plus. And it is not just getting players, it is about getting the right players," he said. "I wanted to move to a club that was a lot more stable, Everton have been in the top six or top seven for a few years now and the team hasn't changed too much. "They are trying to improve the squad, so stability is really important. I am not the kind of player who wants to change club every year - I like to feel comfortable and happy where I am."
