Spurs OK Birmingham's £6m Robbie Keane fee as Harry Redknapp bids £2m for Steven Pienaar

Alex McLeish will today try to persuade Robbie Keane his future lies with Birmingham City after Tottenham agreed to sell them the Ireland striker for £6million.

Manager McLeish hopes to clinch the deal over the weekend, although it is unlikely to be done in time for tomorrow's derby with Aston Villa.

While Keane has been left out in thecold, Harry Redknapp's side have thrived at home and in Europe, andSpurs could make quick use of the £4m downpayment they will receivefrom Birmingham.

Last night they made a £2m offer for Everton's South Africa winger Steven Pienaar, who is a free agent in the summer.

Spurs' bid is £1m less than that offered by Chelsea, but they have proposed a better wage package.
