Top scorer Rickie Lambert may start after coming off the bench to score in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea, while Adam Lallana faces a test on a knee injury. Everton defender Johnny Heitinga hopes to return after a two-game absence. Kevin Mirallas is not expected to be risked after two months out with a hamstring injury. MATCH PREVIEW It may have been unsaintly for Southampton to dismiss Nigel Adkins, but the club can claim to have appointed a miracle worker in his place. Mauricio Pochettino sought divine inspiration when his Espanyol side were eight points from safety with only 10 games to go in 2008-2009, hiking 12km from Barcelona to the religious mountain retreat of Montserrat, famous for its black virgin. Espanyol subsequently earned 25 points out of a possible 30 to finish 10th. Southampton, of course, are not in such a dire position, having moved out of the relegation zone thanks to a run of only two defeats in 12 games under Adkins. Pochettino knows he must win over Saints fans angry at the dismissal of a man who had led the club to back-to-back promotions. LAWRO'S PREDICTION Mark Lawrenson Football Analyst "Toffees boss David Moyes will be wary of a reaction from the Saints players in front of their new manager, but whether it is a good or bad reaction, Everton will be ready for it." Read Lawro's full prediction and score Protests are expected at Monday night's game against Everton, with the Southampton Independent Supporters Association calling for white hankies to be waved - mirroring the traditional Spanish form of disapproval. Nonetheless, Everton boss David Moyes does not expect Southampton's players to be affected by the shock managerial change. The Scot said: "I don't think players mope around too long about the manager, and I mean that with real respect for Nigel, but I think players just get on with their job. I would expect them to do that and it will be difficult." Pochettino led Espanyol to four successive mid-table finishes and Moyes has respect for the former Argentina international's coaching ability. "I've seen his teams play. I don't know him personally but he looks as if he's a modern, young coach who will have a lot of knowledge of Spanish football, which will help him. "You can see it's helped Swansea with Michael Laudrup coming in, it's given them an opportunity to have a little bit of a head-start on players at the lower level who could possibly step up and I would expect him to be very much the same."
