Disgraced former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu is being lined up to replace Arsenal target Pavel Pogrebnyak at Zenit St Petersburg. Pogrebnyak has been linked with a move to Arsenal after admitting he would love to join former Zenit team-mate Andrey Arshavin at the Emirates Stadium. Bolton, Blackburn and Everton are also keeping tabs on the 25-year-and Zenit boss Dick Advocaat has already started planning for life without the striker. Mutu would cost £11.5million and the Russian outfit have cash available following the sale of Arshavin and captain Anatoliy Tymoschuk's impending departure to Bayern Munich. Romania international Mutu, who was sacked by Chelsea in 2004 when cocaine was  found in his body, has impressed for Fiorentina this season, scoring 13 in 19 league games. The 30-year-old would be interested in a lucrative move to Russia, but is understood to be concerned by Advocaat's uncertain future at Zenit. The former Rangers boss is in talks with the club about a new contract but is tempted by the Belgium national team and says he will announce his intentions at the end of the month. But Zenit's urgency to sign forwards increased over the weekend by news that record signing Danny Alves, the Portugal international, faces a lengthy lay-off with a knee injury.
