Season tickets on the up at Goodison

Everton have announced that their season ticket sales for the new season have topped 26,000. That is already higher than last season's total, with the Toffees opening their campaign at home to Arsenal on Saturday. The strength of ticket sales is one of the reasons that the club are unwilling to go back on manager David Moyes' statement that he will not sell any players this summer. They have battled to keep Joleon Lescott, turning down two bids from Manchester City and rejecting a written transfer request. Everton chief executive Robert Elstone said: "We were pleased to surpass our season ticket target in July, and wholly expected that figure to grow before the game against Arsenal. A full stadium is what we strive for."
