Saha close to Toffees deal

Everton striker Louis Saha is close to agreeing a new contract at Goodison Park. The 31-year-old has enjoyed a new lease of life since joining Everton 17 months ago after an injury-ravaged spell at Manchester United. The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season and the Toffees are keen to secure his services and ward off potential interest from other clubs. Saha, who has also played for Newcastle and Fulham, is Everton's top scorer this season with 13 goals in all competitions. Manager David Moyes said: "We have always felt quite confident Louis would sign a new contract and I hope within the next few days we can get it resolved. A lot of stupid nonsense has been written about Louis but hopefully in the next few days we will know for definite." Some reports had linked Saha, who is set to lead the line in the Merseyside derby at Liverpool, with Bordeaux, Besiktas and Roma.
