Saha at the double

French striker Louis Saha scored twice in Everton's 3-1 victory over West Ham to stake his claim for a place in the Toffees' FA Cup final team. West Ham had gone in front through Radoslav Kovac before Saha equalised with a penalty after Tim Cahill was tripped by James Tomkins. Tomkins was duly sent off and the visitors imploded. Joseph Yobo put Everton ahead and Saha added his second. Everton dominated possession in the first half and Saha dragged a shot wide from the edge of the area after nine minutes. Leon Osman should have given Everton the lead in the 13th minute but screwed his shot wide after Marouane Fellaini had flicked on a cross from Lars Jacobsen. West Ham responded and took the lead in the 24th minute, as Kovac delivered a stunning effort from distance that flew into the corner beyond Tim Howard. Striker Diego Tristan clipped a shot wide in the 28th minute, however the game took a dramatic turn in the 38th minute when West Ham were reduced to 10 men. Tomkins felled Cahill as he burst into the penalty area and was sent off. West Ham were outraged but Saha sent goalkeeper Robert Green the wrong way with his spot-kick. Everton took the lead in the 48th minute after Yobo was left unmarked from a corner and rifled a shot into the net, the ball taking a slight deflection. They almost stretched their lead two minutes later when Saha's header clipped substitute Jonathan Spector and came back off the post. But the former Manchester United player had the final say though, scoring from close range in the 76th minute following a cross from Steven Pienaar.
