Guus Hiddink has hit back at the doubters who say Diniyar Bilyaletdinov will struggle to fit in at Everton. Former Blues winger Andrei Kanchelskis believes the £10million signing from Lokomotiv Moscow faces an alien football style and culture when he gets to Merseyside. But Russia boss Hiddink believes Bilyaletidov can emulate Andrey Arshavin, who made an immediate impact after leaving Zenit St Petersburg for Arsenal in February. 'I think "Bilya" has taken a step forward,' said Hiddink. 'He played for many years at Lokomotiv and grew into a high-quality player. Now it's time to test himself at a new level.' Hiddink, who spent the second half of last season as Chelsea's interim manager, added: 'I think he will be able to adapt quickly in England. 'Diniyar is a very sociable guy. It is important that he speaks English, although there is no limit to perfection. 'But in football terms he has to get used to a higher rhythm game. In the English Premier League there is almost no break in play and he must be ready for this. 'If Bilyaletdinov becomes a major player for Everton, it will be good for him and for the national team of Russia.' Bilyaletdinov will join up with Hiddink's Russia team early next week ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Wales. The 24-year-old is not expected to have secured the necessary paperwork to make his debut for Everton until the visit to Fulham on September 13.
