Ruddy loaned to Well

Everton goalkeeper John Ruddy has joined SPL outfit Motherwell on loan until January 2010. The deal includes the option for Well to make the move permanent in the New Year, should they wish to do so. The 22-year-old is expected to provide competition for Michael Fraser at Fir Park and will be registered in time to feature in Motherwell's Europa League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest next Thursday. Ruddy has worked with Well boss Jim Gannon on two previous occasions, having enjoyed two loan spells under the highly-regarded coach during his days at Stockport. The former England U19 international has decided to try his luck away from Goodison Park after making just one appearance for the Toffees since joining from Cambridge United in 2005. Having found opportunities hard to come by at Everton, Ruddy has also taken in short-term spells at Rushden & Diamonds, Chester, Wrexham, Bristol City and Crewe Alexandra.
