Round hopeful over Jo

Everton assistant manager Steve Round is hopeful the club can finalise the loan deal for Jo so that the striker can play against Bury on Friday. The Brazilian arrived at the Toffees' training ground on Tuesday to complete a medical and now looks set to seal a season-long loan at Goodison Park. The 22-year-old endured a rocky opening few months in England after signing for Manchester City for £18million from CSKA Moscow last summer. However, Everton boss David Moyes was unperturbed and duly signed Jo on loan in January where he went on to score five goals in 12 games. Round is looking forward to working with the frontman again and hopes the deal can be finalised as quickly as possible before the friendly with Bury. "I am very much hoping a deal can be put in place. I think we saw last season what he is capable of," he said. "Last season the manager was very keen on Jo and perhaps tried to sign him but was pipped at the post by City." UnderstandingWhile many were put off by Jo's poor return of just three goals from 17 games for City Round sympathises with how hard it is for foreigners to settle to life in England. "He came in as a young player to Manchester and struggled at first," he added. "The Premier league is different to anything else anywhere in the world. But he found his feet with us, came through and got us some goals. "He's certainly a player we would like to have in our squad and firing. "It's up to the club to try and finalise a deal. Hopefully that will come off and we'll have a very, very good player in our squad."
