Rodwell plans to kick on

Everton teenager Jack Rodwell believes David Moyes' side are ready to embark on a long Carling Cup run this season.

The Toffees travel to the KC Stadium to play Hull City in the third round of the competition on Wednesday.

After making a slow start to the campaign, Moyes' side have hit form in the last week, thrashing AEK Athens 4-0 in the Europa League last Thursday before easing to a 3-0 win against Blackburn Rovers three days later.

Rodwell said in the build-up to the match: "It's been a great week. To get three points in the Premier League has given us confidence and hopefully that will help to kick-start our season.

"It seems to be all or nothing for us - we're either not doing too well or we go and score three or four. It's about getting that balance right throughout the season now and start picking up more points.

"It just takes time. We've got a good squad now, good players, it's like last season, we had a slow start but then kicked on again.

"We go into any game confident we can win. We need to get some good rest now and prepare for Hull and hopefully we'll do it."
