Rodwell must be patient

Everton boss David Moyes will refrain from placing too much pressure on the young shoulders of Jack Rodwell.[LNB] The 17-year-old looks set to become the latest teenage sensation to roll off the Goodison Park production line after already becoming a regular member of the Toffees' first team fold.[LNB]A number of impressive performances this term have seen his public profile greatly enhanced, while he was recently rewarded with a new five-year contract.[LNB]Moyes is no stranger to nurturing young talent, with former graduate Wayne Rooney having gone on to achieve superstardom after rising through the ranks on Merseyside.[LNB]Rodwell appears to possess all the necessary credentials to tread a similar path, but his cautious coach will not ask too much of him so early on his career.[LNB]"We are always keen to get our young players signed up, especially if we think they have got a bright future," said Moyes.[LNB]"It is great he has signed a contract and we've got him here for the next five years.[LNB]"Hopefully now it is the next part of his career progression into a regular first team player.[LNB]Pressure"When you get in, as Jack did at the start of the season, he did okay but we had to take him out because we were not right at the time for him.[LNB]"He's had to sit back for six months and see what has gone on, learn about it while still playing in the reserves and train with the first team and hopefully we will bring him on at the right moments.[LNB]"The one thing I won't do is heap pressure on the players. I didn't do it with the boys we've had at the club before - like Wayne Rooney - I'll keep it quite quiet.[LNB]"He has a chance of being a good player but that comes from development and progression and we won't push him too hard.[LNB]"He has had one or two performances which have been excellent and if he keeps going that it is exactly what we want.[LNB]"There are areas of his game he has to improve and that will come with experience in matches.[LNB]"Hopefully the boy will grow himself without too much pressure and develop into a top player."[LNB]
