Rodwell eyeing regular role

Jack Rodwell is targeting becoming an Everton regular after penning a long-term contract with the high-flying Toffees.[LNB] The 17-year-old, who made his Premier League debut against Sunderland last season, has made nine league appearances this term with five coming as a starter.[LNB]Rodwell scored his first Everton goal last weekend in their 3-1 FA Cup win over Aston Villa and followed it up in midweek by putting pen-to-paper on a five-year deal at Goodison Park.[LNB]The teenager has expressed his relief at getting his long-term future resolved and is now looking forward to working hard at becoming a regular in David Moyes' first team.[LNB]Pleased"I've been waiting for this for a long time, so I'm just pleased to get it signed now," he told the Liverpool Daily Post.[LNB]"I've been here since I was seven, so it's been 10 good years and I've enjoyed every minute of it.[LNB]"But it's a new beginning now for me. I'm 17 so I'm a young player and I've got to keep working hard. Hopefully it will all go well.[LNB]"Obviously I want to become a regular starter for Everton, but it will take time. It is all happening very fast at the moment probably because of the squad size.[LNB]"But I've always set high goals for myself so I will just keep working."[LNB]
