Robins look at Spencer

Swindon have taken former Everton striker Scott Spencer on trial. The 20-year-old was released by David Moyes earlier this summer and Robins boss Danny Wilson has moved to bring him to the County Ground to see if he could potentially bolster the club's threadbare strikeforce. Billy Paynter and Lee Peacock are Swindon's only recognised strikers following the departure of prized asset Simon Cox to West Brom earlier this month. Spencer, who spent time on loan at Yeovil and Macclesfield while at Goodison Park, is in Town's squad for Monday night's friendly at Hungerford Town, along with three other trialists including striker Cherno Samba. Wilson was due to make a decision on Samba's future over the weekend but the former Millwall and Plymouth marksman will now get another chance to shine among a Swindon squad made up mostly of youth and fringe players. Elsewhere, Bristol City boss Gary Johnson remains tight-lipped over whether he will offer former Swindon goalkeeper Peter Brezovan a contract, while defender Jamie Vincent is also hoping to impress while on trial at Walsall.
