    Red card leaves Moyes upset

    28 Aug 2009 - 09:23:40

Everton manager David Moyes thought Tony Hibbert was unfortunate to be sent off in Thursday's Europa League clash with Sigma Olomouc.

The Toffees drew 1-1 in the Czech Republic in the second leg to seal a 5-1 aggregate success, but it was Hibbert's red card that had Moyes fuming after the final whistle.

Hibbert had been sent off after just seven minutes of the game for bringing down Jakub Petr but Steven Pienaar's first-half goal ensured there would be no dramatic comeback.

"It was a job well done," said Moyes. "I'm pleased we got through, it was important for us. I thought we got better as the game went on.

"They put us under pressure but thankfully we defended well enough and got one ourselves.

"It was disappointing to see Tony get sent off and that affected us. I thought it was a wee bit harsh. I've seen them given and seen them not.

"But in Europe, if you misplace passes you'll put your defenders in trouble and you'll probably end up making rash tackles which will be punished."
